A lot of pictures and specifications have escaped the bag prior to the event, guess there wouldn’t be too many waohs. But this doesn’t remove the fact that even us here in Nigeria are much excited as the New York launch event comes on.

How is it?
Now a lot of Nigerians will be asking how the mighty Lumia 950XL is? But with little time spent on the device, but there are some stuffs surely worth noting. I will well appreciate the button setup as the power and volume button is quite commendable. Though I will surely need to use it longer before I start to fully grasps its beauty.
The OS version was Windows 10 Mobile build 10546.
On a general note, just as we expected, the device feels light and thin. To be more precise I think a lot of our naija guys would feel a seeming hollow curvature when they get their hands on the Lumia 950 XL. Not like it is a minus when you peep at the specs it wholly presents. In a way I was noticing a temperature variation as the device kind of got a bit warmer close to 1/3 where the processor most probably is located. I wouldn’t say it felt hot, but at least when you hold it, you will affirm this my observation.
There is the possibility of getting features like new back covers for the Lumia 950 XL from third party vendors. This features could include new colour, some metal, even some leather. No much was mentioned as to Qi is in the package but it is welcome for users to quickly swap out the covers for something quite out of the lot- different.
From what I saw the display is very commendable, yet there is that tiny yet distance from mind blowing worth noting here. More to say is that the device seems to not wholly envelope that usual wow factor which is a usual accomplice of Nokia in seducing users in time past. Well I guess I have to use it more as not all can be confidently said just yet.
The camera from what I could observe is deserving of some bottle-popping, but I can’t say either whether it is still worth celebrating when making use of incomplete software. Owing to higher specs, it felt really fast although that backend processing is still there which is not too impressive. On a general note, the camera experience is not too different from what it is today for insiders but we can not deny the camera the compliment of its pep. It is up to you whether that will satisfy you adequately.
From the looks of things, Windows Hello is promising heavy delight, and just fitting my expectations, it boasts neat visual to experience. Yet if I must add this here, it is not too evident where it beats a newer fingerprint scanner.
So at the tail end of all, where should my assessment thumb be for the Lumia 950 XL, should it be thumbs up or thumbs down? The Lumia really meets the imaginative sketch I had of it when the specs leaked out. Well the phone is light to feel, the ergonomics are there and lies be forbidden it is nice a holding high-end phone which doesn’t feel like the device is yearning to separate into a thousand pieces if dropped a foot down.
Microsoft is aiming these red hot Lumia straight at business and surely there is the look of gain in it. They deliver where it is needed. Though I am not certain that these devices are a must-have for your friends. This is not entirely bad as Microsoft may be rather targeting the enterprise market particularly. But in all, I am trying to shrug off a very slight sense of disappointment.
Pricing.
The Lumia 950 XL goes on sale in November at a retail price of $649 on an off contract basis. Sometime in the future, buyers will be able to order the Lumia 950 XL through the Microsoft Store.
