Beware of scam artists seeking for your MasterCard/VisaCard Debit/Credit card information online in the name of BVN registration.
Some unscrupulous individuals are sending emails prompting their recipients to click on a link to update their BVN or update their account online. In your own best interest, disregard and delete such mails.
Any update required outside your bank Internet Banking platform or Corporate website should be ignored. Always double check the URL and make sure there is a ‘https://’ before the address. Scam artists can clone your bank homepage, but their URL can never be the same as that of your bank.
Also note that the BVN enrollment in question can not be carried out any where outside Nigerian commercial banks. You need to be physically available at your bank to be enrolled.
Conclusively, no bank staff or agents will call or send you an email requesting for you to update your information via a link or over the phone. Anyone who receives these phishing emails is strongly advised to either disregard them in their own best interest, or report to the nearest law enforcement agency.
