The period since the last announcement that Samsung made about its Galaxy Home smart speaker with the integration of Bixby into it has reached a year now and during the last Unpacked event of the company, our sources report that they didn’t get to see any of the product and that got a people a little worried as they wondered if the company was planning to abandon the production of its smart speakers. However, when our sources contacted the company for an explanation, they said that they had no plans to stop the project, as a matter of fact a spokesperson of the company gave a reply by email saying, “We’re continuing to refine and enhance the Galaxy Home prior to launch and we look forward to sharing more with Galaxy fans soon”.
The company was supposed to ship the Galaxy Home in the month of April this year at least that was their original intention, but we didn’t get to see it and it took the third quarter of the year for Samsung to tell the public that they were working on the product line, this more than gives one a reason to worry. Be that as it may, filings on the FCC have showed that a second Galaxy Home speaker which is relatively smaller to the current one will soon be released although the company is yet to announce this.
Samsung has at one time stated that its Galaxy Home speakers produce a 360-degree sound and it is tuned by the AKG department of the company. The speaker runs the Bixby voice assistant which is an alternative to other voice assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri. Bixby is also said to be able to function as a hub for smart home gadgets that connect to the Samsung SmartThings platform.
Recent events have of course shown us that the company has hit certain obstacles while it was trying to develop the product because there are no other reasons that anyone can come up with for why the it has taken so long to ship the speaker or why it was not announced during the company’s Unpacked event. If one didn’t know any better, they would say that the Galaxy Home was starting to go the way AirPower did. AirPower was a product announced by Apple long before the company could totally understand the difficulties that were involved in producing the product. For now, we are keeping our arms crossed and waiting for the company to release the product or at least provide some explanation.
