PowerPoint Slide Master allows for consistence all through your presentation. If you want to customize the fonts, headings, or colours of your presentation in a particular area so that the setting is applied to all the slides, you have to create a Slide Master.
Creating a Slide Master in PowerPoint
Open your presentation, click the “View” tab and then click “Slide Master”
The Slide Master will appear in the pane at the left. In the pane, the top thumbnail is the Slide Master, every other thumbnail stands as the slide layout for your theme. If you edit anything in the Slide Master, it will apply to all your slide layouts. But you could select each slide and make a separate editing.
Edit the Slide Master Theme
If there’s a particular theme you want in your presentation, select it before trying to edit anything else since each theme will have its special placeholder for texts and images.
To edit the theme of the Slide Master, click on “Themes” on the “Slide Master” tab.
This will bring out a drop-down menu that contains a huge library of Office themes. Pick any one.
The Slide Master will assume the selected theme.
Fine-Tune your Slide Master
At this point you will want to customize font, colour and presentation background. In the “Background” pane of the “Slide Master” tab, you’ll find the options for those. If you use the options, it will apply to all slide layouts in the presentation since they are predefined. You could move your mouse over the options for a preview.
If you don’t like any of the schemes, create your own or customize the slides independently using the tools in the “Home” tab.
If you put any texts or objects in the Slide Master, it will appear on each slide. This is one really good way to place a company logo or disclaimer text in every slide if that’s how you want it in the presentation.
Create Multiple Slide Masters
You can create a lot of Slide Masters in one presentation. For this, go to the “Slide Master” tab, while there click “Insert Slide Master”.
The new Slide Master will then appear in the left-hand pane.
Edit the new Slide Master as you please. When you’re done, click “Close Master View” in the “Close” section.
Go to your “Home” tab, and in the “Slides” section, click “Layout”.
This will open a drop-down menu in which you’ll see both themes with your layouts you customized.
Save your customized Slide Master
The Slide Master you customized can be saved to be used at another time. To save, click the “File” tab, then click “Save As”.
Then, click “Browse” in the section titled “Other locations”.
Head to the location of your Custom Office Template folder:
C:\Users\user\Documents\Custom Office Templates |
When you’re there, click the arrow in the “Save as type” box.
A window will open, in it, choose “PowerPoint Template”.
Then, click “Save” at the bottom-right of the window.
With that, you have successfully saved your Slide Master.
