According to the reports that we have gotten from our sources, Facebook Messenger now has a new feature. This new feature gives a user the ability to play games that are in augmented reality mode with a group of about six of his or her friends. Our sources report that this feature has already rolled out. The feature was released with two games one of which is Don’t Smile – this game challenges users or players to not be the first to smile. The other game is known as Asteroids Attack – this game involves the navigation of a spaceship.
In other to play either of these games, a user has to upgrade his or her Messenger app to the latest version. As soon as they have done that, they will then open an existing conversation or find someone they would like to chat with. After that, they need to tap the video icon on the top right corner of the screen. Next, they tap the star button, after which they choose one of the augmented reality games. The person or group that you are chatting with will get a notification to indicate that it is a game. Once they accept, everyone will be put into a live video group chat where the game will start with the cameras pointed at the faces of every participant.
For some time now, Snapchat has also been running some tests on augmented reality games that show up over the faces of users. Snap launched its own version known as Snappables in April this year and according to the reports reaching us from our sources, the company is thinking about making a bigger move into the gaming area. In the meantime, Facebook already has regular games in Messenger and there’s a chance that the company may have some of the augmented reality games available on Instagram where there a lot of users chatting.
