Microsoft said on Monday its new Windows 10 operating system will be available worldwide on July 29. The official date comes weeks after AMD CEO Lisa Su revealed that Microsoft would launch Windows 10 in late July.

Windows 10 will be offered as a free upgrade to users of Windows 7 and 8.1, a strategy announced in January, designed to capture as many users as possible.
Upgrading to the latest Windows Os doesn’t even require you get out of your chair to get a spot in the upgrade line. Microsoft is already dropping a notification into the task bars of users of Windows 7 and 8.1. When you click on the notification, you will get a slideshow describing the benefits of Windows 10 (such as the return of the Start menu, a new browser, and the inclusion of Cortana) before you will be given the option of entering your email address to reserve your copy.
Microsoft also said new PCs and tablets running Windows 10 will go on sale July 29, while Windows 10 for other devices such as smartphones would be available later this year.
