WhatsApp is getting a lot of new changes and that includes stickers and business-focused app features, according to the announcement made by its parent company Facebook during the annual F8 developer conference. Also, the messaging platform will be adding group video calls in the months to come as announced by the director of WhatsApp, Mubarik Imam.
Imam did not provide well enough details regarding the functionality of the group video calls, but, a sample screenshot was displayed according to the reports reaching us from our sources displaying a call which permitted four separate individuals to participate. We expect that more details regarding the video will be provided when the company begins to roll them out in beta versions, or announces the official release later in the year. Mubarik Imam disclosed that WhatsApp now has more than 450 million daily users and more than 2 billion minutes of video and audio calls are made in WhatsApp each and every day.
Soon WhatsApp will be getting stickers and then it can join in the company of those other messaging apps like Facebook Messenger, Line, and WeChat. Information reaching us from our sources report that it will also give permission to third parties to develop their own collections of stickers. The date when the stickers will be rolled out has not yet been revealed by the company.
In conclusion, WhatsApp is expanding its push into business with monetization being planned for the brands. Earlier this year, the company launched a WhatsApp For Business on Android which at the moment is still free. However, it will not be all too surprising if the app begins to charge large brands for the additional benefits that will be provided on the platform to enable them access more customers and make more cash. The changes that are to be made to WhatsApp Business are slated to be released later in the year.
