Microsoft has officially declared that it will be disposing older versions of some of the operating systems for Skype; as it will no longer be compatible. The applications has grown over time to provide support for a fat number of features across the years. And well laced with reason some of these platforms will no longer support them. That, or Microsoft doesn’t want the stress of providing support for so lot of platforms out there, and it is not strange the line of Microsoft’s reasoning.
The first of all the platforms Microsoft would be disposing into its dustbin is Microsoft’s own Windows Phone. Skype will solely be compatible with Windows 10 Mobile; consequently disposing support for Windows Phone 8.1; commencing October this year.
Next in line would be Android, here devices operating versions of Android any older than the Android 4.0.3 will lose compatibility with the most recent Skype 6.2. But then, there is the functionality of running the older Skype 4 on devices which operate Android 2.3 as well as above.
On the last note, the Skype 7.0 for Mac client will be operational with macOS 10.9 (Mavericks) as well as those with older versions will have to make use of the web client following October 2016.
