Pressure sensitive screens might be coming to Android

We all know that one of the major features that made the iPhone 6s and 6+ a huge success was the pressure sensitive screen; and now, that feature might be coming to Android soon.

With the release of the developer preview of the N version of Android, many features are still being added – since its still in beta. One of the “rumored features” is support for pressure touching which in simple terms means: the device knows how much pressure you’re applying and responds accordingly – in case you didn’t know.

This feature is only supported by default by the software therefore making the choice of making a pressure sensitive screen – the hardware, fully dependent on the discretion of the OEMs, unlike the case of iPhone where Apple is in charge of both the software and hardware.

I for one wouldn’t expect companies like Gionee or Infinix to add this feature any time soon. It’ll come slowly but definitely. I haven’t been able to test out the developer preview of N but I have hopes of doing so anytime from now.

It is however important to note that this is just a speculation as of now as N is still in early Beta. We’ll be sure to keep you posted as things develop.
