Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH)

The Yaba College of Technology more generally known as YABATECH is located in Lagos State, Nigeria. It was established in the year 1947 to succeed the former Yaba Higher College. In 1979, the school’s name was changed to Federal Polytechnic Yaba, and then finally to Yaba College of Technology in 1980. The programmes also come in Full-time and Sandwich (part-time) categories. Yaba College of Technology offers a wide variety of courses to intending students.

The institution has 8 schools and 34 academic departments and it has 64 accredited programmes at ND, HND, and Post-HND levels. It also provides B.Sc. (Ed) certificate courses. There is a medical centre to treat students who come down with ailments in the school and also available is a sports facility for students to get a workout. The institution’s other campus is located at Epe.

Federal Polytechnic Ilaro (ILAROPOLY)

 

Federal Polytechnic Ilaro (ILAROPOLY) was established in the year 1979 and it is situated in Ilaro, Osun State, Nigeria. The institution has two campuses both of which are connected with well tarred roads for vehicles to travel on. The West Campus is made up of the Schools of Engineering and Environmental Studies, the Main Administrative Building and Annexes, Record and Data Control Unit, Central Examinations Building, Library Annex, Public Toilets, Staff Quarters, Guest House and a dam as well as waterworks.

Interested students can visit the library and the students’ office to check and follow-up with the progress they are making academically. The main areas of study in the institution where students can select from are: the School of Applied Science, School of Engineering, School of Environmental Studies, and School of Management Studies.

Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa (NASARAWAPOLY)

The Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa (NASARAWAPOLY) was founded on the 1st of July, 1983 by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The reason why the institution was established was based on the intent of the Nigerian Government to bring about the transformation of the country through technology and experts in this area are needed. The school is situated in Nasarawa State, Nigeria. It offers both National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates. Available in the institution are more than 50 courses which are spread across 28 departments. There are six schools (faculties) of study in the institution and they include: School of Applied Sciences, School of Business Studies, School of Environmental Studies, School of Engineering Technology, School of General Studies and School of Continuing Education.

Federal Polytechnic Nekede (NEKEDEPOLY)

Federal Polytechnic Nekede was established in the year 1978 to be a Government Technical College by the government of Imo State and it was initially named the of College of Technology, Owerri. It is located in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. The motto of the institution is “Knowledge and skill for service”. NEKEDEPOLY offers courses and programmes in both Full-time and Part-time (Sandwich) categories. It offers National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) at the undergraduate level. On the 3rd of October 2018, the NEKEDEPOLY installed Rev. Engr. Dr. Micheal Arimanwa as the 8th Rector of the institution and the first Alumnus Rector.

Federal Polytechnic Nekede has five faculties (schools) and they are as follows: School of Engineering Technology, School o Environmental design and Technology, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Industrial and Applied Sciences, and the School of Business Management Technology.

The Polytechnic Ibadan

The Polytechnic Ibadan is another institution of higher learning in Nigeria. It was founded in the year 1970 in order to serve as a second option to a university as well as to provide the students for the most part, with technical expertise. The institution is popularly recognized for her slogan which reads in Yoruba “Ise loogun Ise” which translates to “Work the medicine for poverty” thereby emphasizing that hardwork is the only cure for poverty. A wide variety of course are offered in the institution with the aim of cultivating the vocational capabilities of both technical and commercial workers. It honours its graduates with ND, HND, and PGD certificates and programmes are available in Full-time and Part-time categories.
