This post is to notify all Just Naira exclusive readers that the Airtel BlackBerry Data bundles that use to work on non-blackberry devices (such as modems, Android and etc.) will stop working as from the 3rd of November, 2013.
Airtel has been serving Nigerians with its BlackBerry data plans for a long time now. People go for it because it’s cheap and it works on all devices. For instance, with Airtel, 6GB of data can be bought with N2000. Unlike other networks that you have to buy 6Gb with N8,000-N10,000.
I want to use this medium to implore those who are interested in purchasing any Airtel BlackBerry data plans for use on any non-BlackBerry devices to desist from purchasing.
Now that all network BlackBerry data plans don’t work on non-BlackBerry devices, you can give any of these internet subscription plans a trial.
Share your experience with Airtel BB data bundles after 3rd of December 2013.

Will airtel bb plan work on my laptop when I use a universal modem?
@Daniel, it will work.
my dad subscrbed with the airtel bis yesterday…and it is working on his laptop…wat do yhu think airtel is up to….@olusegun
Sir Paul, I also subscribed yesterday and it works. I don’t think Airtel is ready to stop it from working on non-BlackBerry devices as they proclaimed.
what is the ISP? Pls tell me abt it.
@Omolola, ISP means internet service providers.
Guess Airtel BB bundle still works on other devices. Any contrary opinion?
@Anthony E.O., mine still works too. But a friend’s data bundle stopped working. I will keep on tracking them. If it doesn’t stop, I will release another publication.
do you think the only way forward is to do the normal subscriptions? Cos i think those things are expensive…
@Sir Paul, presently, that’s the only way since no cheaper plans are out yet.
But my airtel is still working on my android phone and today is 3rd nov.
@toma, may be Airtel only made the publication to scare users off. I will try and subscribe on a new Airtel sim and share my result here.
Well my Airtel bis is still working in my android…..that’s what I am using right now…..I got the trick
is it true that glo bis work on other devices?
@Paul, Glo bis doesn’t work on non-blackberry device.
First I want to thank you and commend your blog, it is quite informative and resourceful, I have learnt so much from it, I tried the airtel bb plan that can work on non bb yesterday following the steps as you mentioned but it didn’t work so I thought I should visit your blog to verify if I followed the guide accurately only to find out this recent post of yours. My question is what informed airtel”s decision to stop it and how did you know about it before the deadline date? Thanks once again.
@Daniel anthony, Airtel knew their BB data bundles works on non-bb devices, so Airtel officially announced that it will stop working via SMS. I believed it was stopped because of other ISPs complaint.
