Ycee – Juice
Oludemilade Martin Alejo, popularly known as Ycee was born in Festac Town in Lagos, on the 29th of January, 1993. He is a rapper and singer-songwriter.
Ycee fell in love with music at the age of 17 and has since then been signed to Tinny Entertainment (a record label which he started). Soon after that he released songs including ‘Smile on Me’, ‘Amen’ in which he featured Mbryo, and ‘Pass Me’. In 2015, he released ‘Condo’ a song that was nominated for “Best Collaboration of The Year” and “Best Music Video of The Year” in the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. He was also nominated for “Revelation of the Year” at the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards as well as the “Best Artist in African Pop” in the 2015 All Africa Music Awards.
His song titled ‘Juice’ produced by Maleek Berry is one of the top ranking songs of 2017, and is number 5 on the MTV Base list of 2017.
Davido – If
David Adedeji Adeleke, more popularly known by his stage name Davido, was born on the 21st of November, 1992 in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a singer, songwriter, record producer and pco-owner of HKN Music.
Davido has written and released a lot of sings including “Gobe”, “Aye”, “Back When”, “Skelewu”, “Ekuro”, and “All of You”. He first album was “Omo Baba Lowo”.
In February 2017, Davido released a song title “If” which was produced by Tekno, some sources also claim that not only did Tekno produce the song, but that he also did some of the writing. The song happened to have a lot of hits and dominated major playlists in streaming services. As at November, 2017, he won the best African act at the MOBO Awards.
Runtown – Mad Over You
Douglas Jack Agu, popularly known as the Nigerian music artist Runtown, was born on the 19th of August, 1985. He is a singer, songwriter and producer and his genre of music include R&B, reggae, rap, hip-hop.
Runtown partnered with Phyno to create PentHauze after which he left the record label to sign with Eric-Manny Entertainment. The artist has released various songs including “Party Like It’s 1980”, “Activity Pikin”, “Successful”, “Domot” and “Gallardo” which so happened to gain him recognition in the country. His album Ghetto University put him on the list of the Top 5 Most Streamed Artists” in Nigeria.
In 2017, his release of “Mad Over You” gained him a lot of hits, the video got up to 2.5 million streams, and the song was listed as number 38 on the Billboard Twitter Top Tracks chart.
Davido – Fall
After releasing the hit song “If”, Davido went on to release another song titled “Fall” and just like “If”, “Fall” got a lot of hits in major streaming services. In his song titled “Fall”, the artist stuck to the same sound with which he obtained a lot of hits earlier in the year but unlike “If”, “Fall” was produced by Kiddominant. Be that as it may, the rhythm of the two songs were alike and the lyrics were also what made the song enjoyable.
On his Instagram page, Davido announced that his two hit songs being “If” and “Fall”, had reached the diamond and platinum levels – diamond level for “If” and platinum level for “Fall”. In accordance with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), this means “If” had been streamed and/or sold a million times while “Fall” achieved 10 million sales.
Wande Coal – Iskaba ft. DJ Tunez
Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe, well known by his stage name, Wande Coal was born on the 18th of October, 1985 in Lagos State, Nigeria. He is a singer and songwriter whose genre of music include AfroPop, Afrobeat and R&B. He first entered the entertainment industry in Nigeria as a dancer and in the year 2006, he was signed into Mo’ Hits Records, he is also a member of Mo’ Hits All Stars.
Some of his singles are “Superwoman”, “Ashimapeyin”, and “Ballerz”. His first album was titled “Mushin To Mo’Hits” and his recent album is titled “Wanted”.
His song titled “Iskaba” in which he featured DJ Tunez was widely received in Nigeria in 2017 and it was listed as one of the top 5 songs in that year.
