Technology News Site Re/code Acquired by Vox Media

Re/code, the news site renowned in Silicon Valley circles for break-out stories as related to the leading tech giants this time is not reporting the news but making the news. The site had revealed that Vox Media is in the procedure of acquisition of its parent company, Revere Digital.

Re/code put up by veteran journalists Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg who had grown white hairs in the reporting industry back in 2014 after the pair had cut their ties with The Wall Street Journal.

“We will continue to publish under the same name and leadership, with editorial independence,” Mossberg and Swisher wrote in a note to readers. “This is the next big step in our mission to bring you quality tech journalism, because our work will now be amplified and enhanced by Vox Media’s deep and broad skill set.”

Re/code will now become a part of niche news sites which make up the composition of the Vox Media’s portfolio .The digital media company is already in ownership of Vox,Racked, SB Nation, Eater, Polygon, Curbed , and The Verge, which is revered as another notable tech news site.

While The Verge boasts that its number of visitors to the site as in April of this year exceeded 24.5 million people, Re/code according to reports is facing some bottlenecks in extending its visiting audience beyond Silicon Valley. According to reports from The New York Times, Re/code’s acquisition is being pursued in an all-stock deal.

The tech upstart will come into possession of Vox Media’s content management system, Chorus, which had played a central role in assisting the company’s sites gain traction as regards an online audience. Mossberg and Swisher note that “Vox Media’s beautiful, powerful and flexible proprietary publishing platform will give us new ways to present our stories to you.”

Addressing their readers through notes, both Re/code and The Verge still hit on the fact that, despite the fact that they both cover tech, one brand won’t in any way disturb the other. “Bringing Re/code into the Vox Media fold means that The Verge can remain focused on being the best mainstream technology and lifestyle site in the world, and Re/code can dig even deeper into how the money and business of technology works,” The Verge editor-in-chief Nilay Patel had written to readers via posts. Re/code’s reviews team will now team up with The Verge’s staff full-time, on the other hand, Walt Mossberg—who is notably renowned as a pre-eminent command in the niche of gadget reviews—will be writing for both sides.

Despite the fact that its digital audience is relatively restricted, Re/code, for its part, had hit considerable gold with its mobile, tech, and media conferences where it had engaged in interviews with a number of the big shots in the industry. (To add to this Re/code’s latest event, Code Conference, would be kicking off today.) Swisher and Mossberg have been in the practice of producing the conferences beginning in 2003 with the assistance of both pricey and sponsors tickets. For Vox, Re/code wouldn’t be much than just another news site for its portfolio—it could still be a team that knows how keep an audience on their feet.
