Meet the Android powered Voice recorder

Many voice recorders, digital or not; get the job done – basically all they have to do is record audio, right? Well, Phillips thinks your digital recorder should be able to do more, so they made a move.

The speech air packs specs that rivals many budget smartphones and runs a heavily skinned version of Android 4.4.2 (KitKat). Lemme quickly brush through the specs:

  • 480 x 600 IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass.
  • A dual core Cortex-A9 chipset clocked at 1.6 Ghz
  • 1GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM
  • a 5mp rear camera that can scan bar codes.
  • 360º microphone, MEMs microphone for VoIP and a directional microphone for speech recognition(making three in total).
  • Headphones, data and power cables, an international power supply and a docking station.

To top it all off, there is an SDK for developers to create apps for this device. Now, there was no mention of the presence of the play store, so no Candy crushing anytime an interviewee is boring you the hell out(it would have been nice to have though).

As of now, pricing is not confirmed but we’ll update you when it is. In summary, this is more or less a 2012 phone with oversized microphone grills, minus the play store.
