In my previous publication, I explained how MTN subscribers can Loan Airtime from MTN and pay back later. In the post, I mentioned that MTN was not the first to introduce such package in Nigeria. Airtel has been doing this since 2013. I’m writing this to explain how Airtel subscribers that wish to loan airtime from Airtel and payback later can also do that.
Airtel Talk Time Advance service is a service that enables customers to request for airtime (credit) in advance without using physical recharge cards to top up their airtime balance.
Before you begin to dance. Note: There will be a 10% service charge for any amount borrowed. The 10% service charge is deducted directly from the borrowed credit implying that if a customer borrows N50, he will only get N45.
Airtel Talk Time Advance Service Eligibility
Customers can only borrow airtime based on the following factors:

An active line: meaning customer’s line has not been suspended or deactivated under airtel’s existing policies

Network Age: A prepaid customer who has been on the airtel network for a minimum period of three (3) months prior to the date of request for Talk Time Advance

Customer must be a pre-paid customer

The customer must have re-paid all prior advance credit provided by (in the case of a returning customer)

Minimum monthly recharge: refer to the number of airtime reloads in a month.

Minimum weighted monthly usage: refers to the total value in denominations for a user per given period.
How to Borrow Airtime and Pay Later
If you are eligible to ‘borrow’, simply initiates a request by dialing *500# on your line (MSISDN) is given options from which to choose the desired value of airtime which can be used for voice calls (on-net and off-net), SMS and Data.
The denominations of airtime available for lending on the airtel Talk Time Advance service are:

N500
In addition, users will be able to borrow denominations they qualify for directly by dialing:

*500*50# for N50 airtime

*500*100# for N100 airtime

*500*200# for N200 airtime
