Rashidi Yekini Dies at 48: Super Eagles & Nigeria’s Best Striker

Rashidi Yekini, a former Nigerian International and record scorer for the Super Eagles died yesterday 4th of May 2012 in Ibadan after a prolonged illness.

Rashidi Yekini football career started at UNTL football club in Kaduna before he moved to IICC shooting stars and finally was selected for the national team. Rashidi Yekini has participated in many Nations Cup competitions from 1984 to1994 in Tunisia when the Super Eagles won the trophy. Rashidi Yekini was a two-time African Footballer of the year with 37 goals in 58 appearances for Nigeria.

Rashidi Yekini died at the age of 48 and he will be buried today 5th of May 201. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
