When I started blogging some years back, I was wondering what the meaning of SEO is and how important is it. I know this thought is also on the mind of most blogger, while some keep hearing about SEO but never have the idea of what it means. If you want to be successful with your blog and website, you need to know about SEO and how it works. Below is a simple and easy explanation of what SEO really mean.

Don’t let the phrase SEO scare you off! SEO simply stands for “Search Engine Optimization” and it can be referred to as a means of making your website or blog more attractive to search engines like Yahoo, Google and the rest. If you really want to successful with your blog or website, you need to optimize your site for search engines. It simply involves fine tuning the content of your site along with the HTML and Meta tags and also involves appropriate link building process.

SEO might sound intimidating, but it can pay off in big ways. Since we all know that search engines keep their methods and ranking algorithms secret because it assist them to deliver valuable search results.

Many factors are put into consideration before search engines rank and list website. Search engines algorithms can differ from one another that a web page that rank #1 in a particular search engine could be #100 in another search engine for the same keyword.

In conclusion, you need to continuously optimize your blog or website for search engines if you want to stay on top. The moment you stop optimizing your website for search engines, your competitors will push you aside and take your place. Though Search engine optimization requires a lot of hard work and time consuming but it is of great benefit for the growth of your site. SEO is never an ending process, so to stay on top; you have to continue this process.
