In our country here philanthropy is almost extinct. Where someone pays a guard N50k to safeguard N40k for him. Greed is becoming a national trait as Mr A can be seeing Mr B everyday sleeping tattered on the sewage tank of Mr A when Mr A actually has that supposed sewage tank stocked of with big money.
Thus when we hear that people abroad give all their earnings to charity, we get to think it is film trick; why do they think that way? Could their head is suffering from too much of pizzas?Or is there now a demon of philanthropy that we need to prayerfully cast from them?
Well we leave that question for Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and wife the person of Priscilla Chan have solemnly pledged to give all their hard-earned wealth away to charity. And can you imagine what they are aiming at? CURING ALL DISEASE! The two couple deeply hold in high beliefs that technology can cure the world.
Thus in a strong move, Zuckerberg and his wife are not joking about this as they have secured the services of Amazon search executive Brian Pinkerton as their new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) as the head for their Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI).
The implication of this is that Pinkerton will head CZI’s tech team. According to Brian Pinkerton, this initiative could expand into a “couple hundred people” across the next few years.
According to him, “The jury is a little bit out on this; it’s brand new,” Pinkerton. The CZI had launched a top notch scientific research facility dedicated to curing global diseases called Chan Zuckerberg Biohub, coming with an awesome pledge to invest $3 billion across the next ten years in a bid to provide the financial logistics for the war on global diseases.
Pinkerton is vowing to employ everything from mobile app developers to machine learning scientists who would contribute greatly in designing models and algorithms to push forward scientific research.
Seriously I love this, I am actually learning from Zuckerberg on this spirit of charity. I’m hoping to sell my boxers and open a foundation you know. Thumbs up!!
