Microsoft will be Releasing Universal Skype App for Windows 10

Microsoft terminated its Windows 8’s touch-supportive Skype app for 2015; adopting the decision to design a separate video and messaging apps for Windows 10 rather than a universal app. Now based on feedbacks received, Micirosoft is now making variations to its plans. A Skype spokesperson speaking said “As the screen size gets bigger — large tablets, 2-in-1s and PCs for example — and you begin to use the apps, expectations shift and people want to limit app clutter.”

The famous software giant is now assembling plans to go about a release of a universal Windows 10 app which could be out in the weeks to come. It’s built in such a way to present a single-app experience for Skype on Windows 10; bringing in this simplified look as well as the an improved feel on both mobile and desktop.

The initial app is designed to be compatible with messaging, video calls, as well as most of the common functions we associate with Skype. It is expected that consequent releases will bring in the capacity to participate in screen sharing, group video calls, as well as video messages.

The implication here of Microsoft’s new universal Skype app for Windows 10 is that at present, the company possesses three separate Skype apps for its latest operating system. “Over time we will streamline all Skype for Windows 10 experiences into the Skype Universal Windows Platform app,” reveals a Skype spokesperson.

Microsoft has the intentions of embarking on this in phases, accumulating feedback along the way so as to make sure the app is completely featured. Of course there is the undeniable need to be a Windows 10 Insider (tester) so as to enjoy early access to the new Skype app. Yet on Microsoft’s plan is to make the app available to Windows Insiders in the span of “coming weeks”. After that we could expect with a more extensive roll out on our expectations sometime later this year.
